Our Favorite Gay Travel Blogs

I am obsessed with travel porn.  I’ve done a fair amount of travel myself but am always pondering my next trip.  I think I’m not exactly alone in this.  There are quite a few really great gay travel bloggers out there to get great ideas from, so it was fairly difficult to winnow down the field. But I didn’t want to overwhelm you with a long list devoid of context.  So here are my favorites.  Feel free to include your own favorites in the comments below.  We also recommend a couple of their Instagram accounts over here.

Travels of Adam – Adam is an excellent blogger with really great “hipster travel guides” (which are helpful to everyone else too). His guides are really comprehensive and specialize in telling you where the coolest, trendiest spots in a city are. He focuses on Europe and is based in Berlin, so that guide is especially comprehensive.

Nomadicboys – Possibly the most successful gay travel bloggers out there, the Nomadic Boys are an adorable couple who are clearly in love with traveling.  Their primary area of specialty in Southeast Asia, but as of this writing they’re making their way through Latin America.  They focus a lot on gay issues and infuse their writing with a lot of likable personality.  Their Instagram is pretty great too.

Twobadtourists – Another traveling couple, and another contender for most successful, Two Bad Tourists include diverse locations, but probably focus a little more on Europe (they’re based in Madrid). I especially wanted to include them in my list because in addition to location-specific tips, they also have quite a bit of information on general travel info.

We2Boys – Our sister site, We Two Boys focuses more on what gay life is like for locals in various locales, primarily in Central and Eastern Europe.

Karli’s World / Couple of Men – One more couple… A German guy and his Dutch boyfriend.  Also just insanely adorable, this couple is based in Amsterdam, so they are especially knowledgeable about Amsterdam specifically and northern Europe more generally.  But they’re also very well-traveled, with info far beyond their home territory.

That Gay Backpacker – Definitely one of my favorites.  There are a ton of great articles about both gay travel and the experiences of local gay people in various destinations.  It’s not necessarily as polished as some of the others, but it includes interesting info about gay issues from Brighton to Bangalore to Barcelona.

Globetrottergirls – For a lesbian perspective on global travel, Globe Trotter Girls is the place to go. I’m also a big fan of her photography. I especially recommend that you check out this post about solo travel for lesbians.

Travel Geek UK – This one is less specifically gay-oriented than some of the others, but it includes destinations in the Middle East and Africa that not many bloggers include in their itinerary.

Dream Euro Trip – DJ is a bit of a party boy.  He has great info about the best clubs and parties in the cities he travels to.

Carlos Melia – Carlos describes himself as a “luxury travel curator.” So for those of you with a sizable budget, this is the guy for you.  He is a bit more global than most other bloggers, with information about destinations on five continents.
